DG Khan Medical College was established in 2010 and is a government medical school located in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab, Pakistan. The DHQ Hospital is affiliated with the Dera Ghazi Khan College as a Teaching Hospital.
History
In early 2009, a team of seven from King Edward Medical University proposed plans for four new medical schools. On November 27, 2010, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of four new medical schools, including DG Khan Medical College.
The government has allocated land for the college, a campus will be built with a cost of Rs. 20000000.
The first batch of 100 students were admitted in the semester of 11-2010 and their courses started at Cairo Medical College Bahawalpur, which was shifted to DG Khan Campus on November 28, 2011.
Professor Niaz Baloch has been appointed as the President of the newly established medical school. In 2012, Prof Ghulam Mustafa Rai, Professor Shameem Hassan and Professor Niaz Baloch were replaced. Campus
The college is located a short distance from the DHQ Hospital. The campus covers 229 acres of land. DHQ Hospital is located adjacent to the College. The total area of the entire campus, hospital and hostel is approximately 650 kanals.
The campus has four main lecture theaters, seven demonstration halls, six science laboratories, two museums, a library, a cafeteria, seven basic medical science departments, and two separate hostels for boys and girls.
